Made from vintage Tanzanian kangas and backed with soft fleece, this generous throw is designed to move easily from home to open air: spread out beneath a tree, folded over the back seat, layered on a sofa, or wrapped around your shoulders when the day cools.

The kanga is one of East Africa’s most beloved textiles: a cotton cloth worn along the Swahili coast for well over a century as a wrap, shawl, baby sling, head covering, and gift to mark life’s milestones. Each one is framed by a border, centered with a bold design, and finished with a Swahili proverb — a message of love, wisdom, patience, resilience, or quiet defiance.

Reimagined by Kenyan artisans as a fleece-backed throw, each limited edition piece carries the language and character of the original cloth into a new form: soft, useful, and alive with meaning.
